Suffering is part of our training program for becoming wise

Look inside yourself;
everything that you want,
you already are.”

Hi! My name is Gem.

Here's the short story of why I started the Self-Mastery work.

For over 30 years I was stuck in mind-identification,
also known as misery and suffering.
In my childhood, I experienced many overwhelming events,
that I could not process at the time.

This set my body and mind into a fixed survival mode.
Despite training and working as an outdoor adventure guide,
I struggled to overcome innate fear and freeze states.
For three decades, I was immersed in ever-escalating experiences of depression, anxiety, low self-esteem,
co-dependency, hypervigilance and paranoia,
dissociation & derealisation.

By 33, I was mentally burnt out.
I was helpless, hopeless & homeless.
No social life, no work, no motivation.
No choice.
I turned to face myself as the cause.

I spent the next 5 years and all of my life savings solely dedicated to finding the cause and solution to my suffering.
I went from working with psychologists to studying psychology.
I tested somatic practices, from acupuncture to acroyoga.
I meditated, reflected, grieved, raged and introspected.
In the exploration, I found key factors for self-mastery.

At 37, I experienced disidentification with thoughts and emotions. This resulted in an acute realisations that relieved my suffering.
There was an immediate reduction of all of my symptoms,
an influx of infinite love, calm, peace, joy
and a deep trust in life that continues today.

My mission is to share the key ways of self-mastery
so other people can enquire into the mind, body and emotions,
to experience the freedom of insight
and the wisdom within.

I am deeply grateful to do this mastery work with fellow seekers,
so that they too can be free of suffering and connected with the joy of a life lived without limits.

meaning of enso

The enso is circular form attributed to zen art.
The enso is usually made from two ink brush strokes, intended to symbolise the zen mind.
The symbol is connected to concepts of insight, emptiness, freedom and the state of no-mind.
